Wolves in Poland
Thank you Jerzy for sending me the two first day covers 'wolves' (canis lupus), issued in 1985.. In my opinion these are great items to further complete my WWF collection. The simplicity of the drawings makes these FDC really very attractive, I'm very happy with these items :)

Poland
Kazimierz from Poland sent me a nice cover again. This time no WWF stamps on the cover, but a nice souvenir sheet.

This souvenir sheet was issued because on January 16 and 17, 2008 the Plenary Assembly of PostEurop has been held in Kraków (Poland). Such meetings are organized yearly in another Member State of PostEurop, but this one is very special for the Polish Post because of the celebration of its 450th anniversary. This even coincides with the the 15th anniversary of PostEurop!
The artwork on the stamp combines symbolics of the post (an envelope), the city of Kraków (a peackock's feather, the typical element of the Cracovian folk costume), and the European diversity, expressed in its colour palette, drawn from the national flags of the Member States. The PostEurop logo is present on the stamp as well as on the occasional postmark that will be applied at the Kraków 1 Post Office.
Inside the envelope, I found two really really nice items to enrich my WWF collection:
I already talked about the birds on the stamps on previous occasions, so I refer to those texts if you feel like reading something about these very nice animals.

Polish birds (WWF)
I received another cover from Kazimierz, the first one was the envelope with the two very nice dance stamps.
Kazimierz sent me this great cover, picturing the complete serie of Polish WWF stamps from 2003. I already talked about these stamps in my previous Poland post, because then I had received an envelope with two stamps of this serie.

Cover from Poland --> WWF!!
I'm very happy to be able to show you a new WWF cover. This cover was sent to me by Roman Sudzik from Gdansk. Thank you very much for this nice cover, Roman!
Unfortunately the cover got a bit damaged at the left side, but the stamps are undamaged and that's what counts!
The two stamps on the cover are part of a serie of 4 WWF stamps on the Osprey (Pandion haliaetus).
The bird is a cousin of the eagle and is a carnivore. The birds can reach a weight up to one and a half kilo.
As we can suspect from the name and the stamps, the birds are hunting on fishes. Unlike most other fish eating birds, these birds catch the fish with their legs, which makes the hunting very spectacular.
Osprey is a protected animal species in Poland. At this moment, only 30 couples of ospreys live in Poland, mainly in the north of the country.
Also notice the very nice postmark on the envelope, which apparently commemorates '660 years of the town Puck'. Puck is an old fisherman's town in north-west Poland.
