Hi :)

I try to collect one nice cover from every country in the world, and I need YOUR HELP! Below you can browse through my collection, if you see your country is missing (or you can send me a better cover than the one I already have), please contact me :)

I prefer covers with WWF stamps, because this is my main (topical) collection. I also collect other WWF items, like local FDC / MC etc.

New WWF cover!!

Yes :) Another WWF cover for my collection, thank you very much Pablo for this cover from Cuba!

The stamps on this cover are all part of the 1998 Cuban WWF serie on the Cuban Parakeet (
Aratinga euops). Once considered to be awidespread and common Cuban endemic regarded as a crop pest, the Cuban Parakeet is now classified as a threatened animal species. Reasons for this are persecution, habitat destruction and trapping... The Cuban Parakeet is found in grasslands with palms, notably the Royal Palm, at woodland edges and in undisturbed forest, but requires nesting holes in palms or in arboreal termite nests many of which are abandoned woodpecker holes.

It's bright green with red spots scattered on the head, neck and breast and red at the bend of the wing. It has a white ring of bare flesh round the eye.

New covers / sent covers

Hello everybody

I just got home after a tiring day (had to go to Gent for my work), so I won't post new covers today. But I do have some nice covers to show you, as I've received a cover from Cuba with WWF stamps and a very nice cover from Georgia. I will post some of my new covers tomorrow.

Also, I have been to a presale this weekend. It was rather disappointing for me, as I had little time and I had to wait very long before I could buy some new stamps to send on my envelopes. Because of this, I made some 'mistakes' (for some people, I had to use other stamps than foreseen...), but well I'll learn from it and do better next time. (I'm planning a new trip in March 2009 :)) You can see the names of the countries I have sent covers to on the left side of my blog.

I hope my covers will reach everybody soon and in good condition. If this is the case, I think I will get some nice covers in return. (hopefully full of WWF stamps ;))

See you all tomorrow!

Serbia WWF

I'm finally back again! :) I wanted to post some covers yesterday, but I did not do it at the end because I decided to spend my free time on watching football on tv! And it was not a waste of time, because the 2 Belgian teams playing in the UEFA cup both made it to the group phasse!:
  • Club Brugge 2 - Young Boys Bern (Swi) 0 (aggr. 4-2)
  • Standard 2 - Everton (Eng) 1 (aggr. 4-3)
Belgian football really needed some good results to get out of the misery a little bit, so it's nice that both teams could win their match!

But back to the covers now. I've received some really nice covers this week (including some new countries!!), so I can't wait to share them with you. First one to show is one sent to me by Dusan from Serbia:

Dusan used two stamps on the cover. The one on the left was issued in 2007 and commemorates the European table tennis games. When I studied at university, I played some table tennis with my best friend every week, so this stamp really reminds me to 'the good old days'. :)

The stamp on the right was also issued in 2007 and pictures Amelia Erheart, a noted American aviation pioneer and author. She was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, which she was awarded as the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. During an attempt to make a circumnavigationel flight of the globe in 1937, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island.

Dusan included 2 very nice local first day covers of the Serbian 2007 WWF issue (I talked about these birds in my previous Serbia / WWF post). Here is a picture of the FDC's:

Thanks a lot for these items, Dusan! I hope you can also get me the 2004 issue FDC's one day! :)
